CANEX Aluminum Secures Low-Carbon Aluminum Billets
At CANEX Aluminum, our drive toward responsible innovation has taken a major step forward. We are proud to announce our latest collaboration with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), through which we will secure a supply of MinimAL — a new low-carbon aluminum billets — to be used in our production process.
This marks a significant milestone for CANEX as the first company in Egypt to utilize aluminum produced using nuclear energy. MinimAL is made using carbon-free electricity generated by the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) and supplied to EGA. By sourcing this material, we are further reducing the carbon footprint embedded in our aluminum products from the very start.
At CANEX, sustainability isn’t a label — it’s a layered process built into every stage of our operations. In addition to generating part of our electricity through rooftop solar energy, we’ve pioneered a unique upcycling initiative that transforms our in-process extrusion scrap into high-end cast products. Rather than relying on traditional recycling, which remelts scrap into billets or ingots, our method skips the energy-intensive reprocessing stage. We cast directly using gravity, low-pressure, and injection techniques to produce precision items like pump housings, handles, and transformer parts.
Now, by integrating MinimAL into our extrusion process, we’re reinforcing our commitment to decarbonization and furthering our position as a regional leader in sustainable aluminum manufacturing.
As we continue to serve markets across Europe, the Middle East, and North America with advanced aluminum solutions for infrastructure, solar, transportation, and architectural sectors, this collaboration supports our ongoing mission: to lead with action, reduce environmental impact, and deliver lasting value.
